Community Scarecrow Competition
at Aldermere Farm
All ages are invited to participate in a Community Scarecrow Competition from 12:30-4:30 pm at Aldermere Farm, 20 Russell Ave on Wednesday, October 17. The event will be a combined volunteer workday and a competition to build the most creative scarecrow. Staff will vote on the best creation.
The winner will select a Knox County food pantry of his/her choice to receive 50 pounds of Aldermere beef.
All scarecrows will be put on display in the cow pastures for the public to view along Russell Avenue.
Participants may arrive between 12:30-4:30. Parking is along Russell Avenue.
There will be refreshments and apple cider.
Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, a rake, an outfit for their scarecrows, and plenty of imagination!
The event coincides with an early release day for MSAD 28 schools and is open to all ages. Youth must be accompanied by an adult.
