Merchant Row Sunset Cocktail Cruise
Join us for an early evening cruise through this breathtakingly beautiful collection of islands between Stonington and Isle au Haut. Sip a glass of wine or enjoy a frosty Maine microbrew while you learn about the conservation history of many of these iconic Maine islands. Pre-registration is required for this trip.
Maine Coast Heritage Trust manages ten island preserves in Merchant Row including Saddleback Island, Green Island, Sand Island, Gooseberry, Bills Island, Nathan and Little Nathan Islands, Little Camp Island, and The Fort. These beautiful islands are open to the public for picnicking, exploring, and swimming. Nathan and Saddleback Islands have campsites.
Two-thirds of the islands in Merchant Row are conserved. Maine Coast Heritage Trust; Acadia National Park; Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry; Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife; Chewonki Foundation; and Island Heritage Trust are among the organizations and agencies that share in the protection of this unique scenic and ecologically-rich archipelago.
This event is limited to people 21 years of age and older.
What to Expect:
We'll travel aboard the Otter (the Isle au Haut ferry during the day) which comfortably seats 55 people. The top level (with stellar views!) is only accessible by a steep stairway. There is comfortable bench-style seating in the open air on the main deck and some limited seating inside the cabin. You will be outside in the elements on this trip! Please dress accordingly and bring an extra layer – it cools off quickly as the sun sinks.
We will be serving complimentary beer and wine on board as well as a non-alcoholic selection. Our superb local caterer will be circulating hors d’oeuvres.
What to Bring:
Casual dress. Please dress warmly! It is cool in the afternoon on the water. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and an extra layer or windbreaker. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars if you have them.
Weather and Cancellation Policy:
In the event of rain, this trip will be cancelled and your fee will be refunded. There is no rain date. We will notify you by email 24 hours in advance of a weather-related cancellation.
